Bay area hip hop artist Lyrics Born brings his brilliant vocal range and willingness to push the envelope of the genre to new heights on the I Like It I Love It m p3. A combination of rap and funk, the tune establishes LB as one of the first truly talented young up and coming independent rappers on the hip hop scene in quite some time.
The album Everywhere at Once finds the man born Tom Shimura, dabbling in everything from hip-hop to eletroclash, further cultivating his image as an observant, conversational wordsmith whose lyrics are as humorous as they are grounded. This album is also Shimura's first studio release to feature members of his live band, and also sees contributions from producers Jake One and Trakademicks—a winning combination for sure.

Although at first it seems light-hearted lyrically, the Handlebars mp3 contains s some pretty insightful social commentary about the vagaries of human nature. All this is packaged into an “almost” hip hop song, by which I mean it should get airplay on mainstream stations as well. On top of that, it’s the kind of tune that sticks in your head more and more as the day goes by.
This song was also on the Flobots other CD ‘Platypus,’ and while I actually liked the version on that disc better, this holds up pretty well because the lyrics are solid. Even if you’re not a hip hop fan per se, you might take a liking to Flobots, so give this track a whirl and see if it doesn’t do something special for you, too.

Lil Wayne is not trying to reinvent the wheel and many of the techniques he uses were popularized by other artist first. (For instance he uses an auto tune device that was first popularized by T-Pain. However, Lil Wayne has the ability to synthesize other artists and come up with something that is totally his own. He does so again in Millie.
