ALBUM REVIEW
Following a period where he was largely reclusive, the 461 Ocean Boulevard album stands as a fierce comeback for Eric Clapton and really put him on the map as a solo artist. The album is best known for its chart topping version of Bob Marley’s “I Shot the Sheriff,” but it’s got many other great tracks to recommend itself. “Let it Grow,” for instance, shows that Clapton is not straying far from his grounding in the blues, while “Willie and the Hand Jive” proves that Clapton relishes classic rock and roll. Bouncing back from his heroin addiction may be the hardest thing he ever had to do, but if you listen to this album you’ll see why so many were happy to get him back.
