The Damn the Torpedoes album is the disc that broke Tom Petty into the mainstream of rock and roll and deservedly so. With their combination of timeless Byrds-like blues, Stones-reminiscent rock and just a hint of country, tunes like “Refugee," "Here Comes My Girl," and "Even the Losers" still get plenty of classic-rock radio play today, while "Shadow of a Doubt (Complex Kid)," "Century City," and "Louisiana Rain" are all minor classics on their own.
