Sonic Youth - Daydream Nation Album

Sometimes noisy, discordant music can be fun to listen to as proven by the Daydream Nation album from Sonic Youth. Musically, it is an incredibly raw and distorted album, kind of similar to the offerings of Velvet Underground and the Stooges. But Sonic Youth are also unique in their ability to blend unpredictable, unconventional songwriting with a great pop sensibility and their own nearly patented stream-of-consciousness lyricism. "Daydream Nation" is certainly classifiable as a rock album, as it shows the roots of the modern post punk era. SY was the essential New York rock band of this era and for this reason alone, Daydream Nation deserves a listen.
