Gang of Four - Entertainment! Album

Originally released in 1979, the Entertainment! album from Gang of Four proves that great discs stand the test of time and multiple imitators. This album, with its social consciousness, quirky bass hooks and blazing electric guitar riffs seems, as modern today as it did when it was first issued. With its temperament and mood built into noisy guitar feedback, a tune like “Anthrax,” for instance, may be the mother of all rock and roll songs. Thereafter, every song on the disc dispels whatever preconceptions you had about late 70's dated rock sound. Gang of Four certainly had a great influence on bands that came after them like R.E.M., Fugazi and the Red Hot Chili Pepper, but they were the original creators of the anti-mainstream rock movement.
