Though it has often been overlooked,
the Forever Changes album stands apart from its contemporaries as a masterpiece of 1960s underground music. "Forever Changes" observes the passing scene as Love comments on the people they've known, political mindsets they don't like and the condition of society on the whole. It’s strange that it was written so long ago and remains vibrant and fresh to this day. Highlights include singer/songwriter Lee’s exploration of mainstream America's penchant for paranoia ("
The Red Telephone") and for violence ("
A House is Not a Motel"), but really every song is musically and lyrically a gem. This one is not to be missed.
