If you like your lyrics brutally honest and witty to boot, then Amy Winehouse’s
Frank album is for you. For a debut effort, Frank is supremely compelling and proves that soulful jazz need not be boring. “Cherry", "F-Me Pumps", "Love Is Blind", and "
Take The Box" are the highlights, but you might find yourself absent-mindedly singing along to “Amy, Amy, Amy.” I think this album is even better than Back to Black because in it Winehouse manages to make jazz as accessible as pop. Let’s hope she cleans up her act and doesn’t crash and burn like so many other mega-talented musicians before her.
