The Stooges’ Funhouse album represents the punk genre at its finest even before the genre itself officially existed. Iggy and the Asheton Brothers and company get more out of howling three-chord rants than pretty much anyone before or since. The Stooges live up to their namesake perfectly here and continue to set the pace for extreme music on this CD, be it punk, metal, experimental, or otherwise. "Down In The Street" opens a vein of pure anarchy right from the beginning. And that's only for starters. If rock and roll is all about sex and violence, then "Loose" is the poster child. Other standouts after repeated listens include “TV Eye” and “L.A. Blues.”
