The Greetings From Asbury Park album let everyone know that there was a new musical force to be reckoned with. On his debut, Bruce showed that he was the greatest songwriter to come along since Bob Dylan. Highlights on the album include the musical tongue twister "Blinded By The Light,” a song with a funky riff complete with horns, and "Spirit In The Night" which introduced the E Street sound and is a forerunner of the character-driven tunes that would appear later on Born To Run. It would take another album before the whole country discovered Bruce, but this gem shows why they did.
