John Wesley Harding Album Review
The John Wesley Harding album is the first disc Dylan recorded after his debilitating 1966 motorcycle accident and it shows a softer, more reflective side of Dylan as opposed the ambitious folk/rock he churned out earlier in the decade. Everything about this album is gentle and mellow, from the delicately strummed guitars to the perfectly timed harmonicas, and some of Dylan's best pure singing to date. Highlights on this remarkable album include the sweet opening title track (a folk fable), the piano-driven "Dear Landlord," and the closing sentimental love song "I'll Be Your Baby Tonight." This is an essential disc for any Dylan lovers library.
