ALBUM REVIEW
Jazz fan or not, the “Kind of Blue” album is the one jazz disc every music lover should own. Not only is Miles Davis backed by a great band that includes Coltrane and Chambers, he innovatively comes up with a new sound that would later become known as modal jazz and was free of the fixed harmonies and forms of traditional pop music. It’s likely that you’ve heard many of the tunes on the Kind of Blue album even if you weren’t aware of it. Some great ones on the disc include “Freddy the Freeloader,” “All Blues” and “Blue in Green,” which really showcase all of the musicians playing with Davis and will truly stir the soul.
