My Bloody Valentine - Loveless Album

The Loveless album claims such stellar influences as Sonic Youth and Television, but it is one of those rare albums that manages to transcend its influences. In 1991, it was a distinct and compelling force within the incredibly stale genre of guitar rock. And today, It's still just as jaw-droppingly good as it was back then. "Only Shallow" is driven by an oceanic, Black Sabbath-like riff that that morphs into a wonderful pop melody in the verses. "When You Sleep" is a vast, chills-inducing slice of heaven that still manages to be a catchy little pop song. "Blown a Wish" blends sheer ambient loveliness with a beautiful melody. If these tunes don't get you going than nothing will.
