Mezzanine Album Review
Released by one of the most important UK bands of the 90s, the Mezzanine album combines a number of musical genres—jazz, pop, folk, rap and blues—to accomplish a sound that is supremely unique. In fact, it has so many different layers of sound that each time you listen to it, you hear something new. Each cut has a different vocal and musical style that really shines through. One of the highlights is “Teardrop,” a beautiful and simple tune, built around a stuttering drum beat and harpsichord riff. It introduces us to Liz Fraser (of the Cocteau Twins) and her calming, exceedingly high vocals. But all in all, you can’t go wrong with Massive Attack. It’s a massive success.
