On the 6 Album Review
With so much coverage in the media, it’s hard to look at Jennifer Lopez as “just” a musical artist, but her debut, the On the 6 album, offers a surprisingly nice blend of pop, Latin and jazz that is on the whole satisfying. The disc has a great mix of mellow and energetic tracks. My favorites are "Should've Never," which is enhanced by both a sensuous spoken-word bit as well as some erotic moaning, and "Waiting for Tonight" is a good disco number that appears in two versions: English and Spanish. "No me Ames," an excellent duet with Marc Anthony. I don’t think fans of J-Lo’s career as an actress will be turned off by the On the 6 album; it has a lot to recommend itself.
