The Meters - Rejuvenation Album

The Rejuvenation album is an example of stellar studio jamming from a group that was being marketed as a crossover group by Reprise records. Despite all of the messing around, The Meters still managed to retain their core funk sound, embellishing it with some rock and roll and mainstream soul. Standout tracks include “People Say" and "Just Kissed My Baby," slow, simmering deep grooved funk classics, while "What'cha Say" and especially "Loving You Is Always On My Mind" (the latter the closest thing to a pure instrumental) are beautiful, upbeat, and contagious. These are pure, soulful and melodic tunes, not unlike the best of the Isley Brothers, on a disc that deserved more props then it got.
