Rumours Album Review
With the “Rumours” album, Fleetwood Mac moved away from the blues and toward sunny Southern California pop. Most of the tunes on this album, one of the best selling in music history, are homages to love told from each band member’s perspective using his or her special vocal sensibility. There’s Stevie Nicks with her dreamy, mystical reveries ("Dreams," "Gold Dust Woman:); Christine McVie with her ultra-catchy slogans ("Don't Stop"); and Buckingham with his deceptively simple pop songs ("Second Hand News," "Go Your Own Way"). The band was embroiled in personal disputes at the time the Rumours album came out, but it is testament to their talent that disc sounds as fresh today as it did back then.
