The Siamese Dream album is vintage Smashing Pumpkins and one of the best alternative records ever recorded. At first listen, it seems like a fairly typical rock/metal album, but once you hear it a few more times you come to appreciate the enticingly complicated music, which begins to filter into your mind and doesn't let go. Corgan's lyrics aren't for the happy-go-lucky among you - they are filled with angst and introspection—but they do avoid the trap of self-pity.
