XTC - Skylarking Album

The Skylarking album is a great British disc, meaning it can’t be beat for melody, schoolboy wit and choirboy voices. This lighthearted homage to the seasons is something the Beatles probably would have come up with had they still been working together in the 80s. It sports one of XTC’s very best songs, "Summer's Cauldron," the very summation of those lazy summer days when every male teen longs for you know what. Then there’s “Grass,” with the lyric "It shocks me too, what we used to do on grass." It's a little play on words, I suppose, but the message is the same either way. The Skylarking album at its essence is dirty English schoolboy musings, but it’s what the band is best at it. Try this disc on for size and you won’t be disappointed.
