ALBUM REVIEW
Given all it had going against it, The Slanted and Enchanted album is one of the best indie alternative discs out there. Pavement was two disaffected college kids and an aging drummer who went into a studio to vent and came out with an awesome selection of songs. Highlights include “Here” which features evocative word games with real emotion under them, and “Conduit For Sale!,” a tribute to the band the Fall. The ideas are fresh, and they have a personal take on rock music unlike any other band at the time.. They represented a certain feeling that was floating around in the 90s that many bands that came after copied.
