Peter Gabriel - So Album

1986's "So" album was Peter Gabriel's big commercial breakthrough, and it's not difficult to see (or hear) why: "So" has all of the power and theatricality of Gabriel's previous efforts, but it also has a great warmth to its songs, which diverges from the dark and serious sound that was present in his earlier recordings. "So," however, with its lighter mood, was welcomed by the public with open arms, and finally catapulted Gabriel out of cult status and into superstardom. From the smash hit “Sledgehammer” to the beautiful ballad, “Don’t Give Up” every single song on this album is a masterpiece and holds up gloriously upon repeated listens.
