Graham Parker - Squeezing Out Sparks + Live Sparks Album

The Squeezing Out Sparks album is Graham Parker’s finest musical moment and may be one of the top rock albums of all time. Gone is the angry young man syndrome of earlier records and in its place we find a more mature individual who is still not afraid to speak his mind. There has been much debate over the album’s most searing single, “You Can’t Be Too Strong,” which has been interpreted as both a pro-choice and anti-abortion anthem. Whoever is right, the song is a very powerful look at a complex social issue. Squeezing Out Sparks is a brilliant and sophisticated ending to the 70’s British pub rock era, ushering in the punk/new wave movement that would steal all of its thunder.
