The That’s the Way of the World album propelled Earth, Wind and Fire to the top of the charts and solidified their status as one of the few bands that could expertly combine jazz, soul and funk with positive themes and messages about having faith and not giving up on dreams. "Shining Star" opens the album with a pumping beat that sent it up to the number one position on the charts. It starts off with a slow, steady beat and then breaks out in a harmony-fueled explosion. “That’s The Way of the World” also had everyone out on the dance floor in minutes, while the powerful ballad “Reasons” showed a softer side of the group. EWF may not have been as good as Stevie, but they sure came close.
