ALBUM REVIEW
Don Henley’s End of the Innocence album capped off the 80s perfectly, expressing in equal parts both cynicism and hope for the future. The title track, "The End of the Innocence," features Henley crooning some of the best lyrics ever written on political disillusionment and the faith to overcome it. The rest of the album holds up equally well with "The Heart of the Matter" quietly explores lost love and is moving beyond words; "I Will Not Go Quietly" sees Henley in his hard-rock mode; "The Last Worthless Evening" is a moving ballad about the saving grace of love. This album belongs on a short list for the best of the 80s.
