Van Halen Album Review
The Van Halen album is the band's 1978 debut and features many songs still considered classics. Now imitated to death, Eddie Van Halen's inventive guitar technique set a new standard for guitar wizardry in the late 1970's. The strength of the Van Halen brothers' musicianship could have made Van Halen an essential record, but the contributions of Michael Anthony and David Lee Roth put the group in the hard rock pantheon. The tunes "Runnin With the Devil", a cover of the KINKS' "You Really Got Me", "Ain't Talkin Bout Love", and "Jamie's Cryin" are still staples of AOR radio. Let's hope the group's reunion will lead to likewise inspiring rock.
