Born Alecia Beth Moore, the Pennsylvania singer known as Pink (or P!NK) has been a pop radio favorite ever since she first exploded onto the scene with 2001’s M!ssundaztood (the follow-up to 20’s lower-profile release, Can’t Take Me Home). In 2008, Pink announced that she had separated from her husband of two years, motocross bike racer Carey Hart. In true Hollywood fashion, the pair insisted that they would remain friends and that the split was friendly. Written in collaboration with producer Max Martin and Shellback (who also worked on Pink’s hits U + Ur Hand, Cuz I Can and Who Knew), Free So What Download finds the singer digging into some gritty territory but working through her anger and offering up some catchy chorus hooks that are sure to have listeners turning up the radio and singing along in their cars. Break-ups and divorces are never easy, so it must’ve taken some courage for Pink to delve into such a personal topic so soon after her marriage ended. However, fans are sure to relate to such universal themes of heartbreak and trying to find the strength to say “so what!” and move on with your life.
