Sometimes known as A Fire Inside, the band AFI has often been plagued by accusations that it is derivative of more popular acts. The group has strayed from its more gothy, hardcore-oriented roots in favor of a more punk-pop sound. (Of particular note is their 2006 hit “Miss Murder” which sounds strikingly similar to Green Day tracks of the same era.) With “Carcinogen Crush” finds the California band offering more of the super-catchy sing-along rock they’ve become known for. The song features a musical build up and exciting chorus that will likely appeal to fans of Green Day, as well as, Jimmy Eat World.
