In their latest album, Goldfrapp go for a new sound, but the Happiness mp3 comes closest to the bounce and dazzle of their previous work than anything else on the new disc. Even this tune, on a closer listen, is a dervish-like blend of pipes and horns that has the duo exploring the new territory of delicacy and exquisite beauty.

Alison and her partner, Will Gregory, have clearly changed things up a bit, bringing in atmospheric strings and subtle beats and largely ridding themselves of the glam and glitter of the past. Fans might find this to be a jarring change, but the tunes definitely grow on you with repeated listens and the alteration might bring more listeners into the fold.
