Carly Smithson’s The Show Must Go On mp3 is a mixed bag. On the one hand, the tune showcases Carly’s tremendous pipes and who could not be wowed by her beautiful Irish accent. On the other hand, she oversang and was all over the place with the song. The judges picked up on that, too, with Simon saying that Carly actually seemed “angry” while she was performing it. I don’t know if that’s accurate, but it does seem to me that Carly has given relatively few stellar performances given her powerful voice. She is really talented and I don’t think her song choices have reflected that. Simon has perpetually been on her for selecting the wrong songs and I can’t say I disagree with that. Carly really needs to make her choices with great care because it’s getting harder and harder to hide behind them.
