David Cook’s Innocent mp3 is not the best indicator of Idol’s resident rocker’s talent. David is clearly one of the top contenders in this competition with efforts that consistently wow the judges and fans, but this was a poor choice of song because it revolved around low notes while David shows off his vocal ability best with notes in the higher register. Still, David has a commanding stage presence and is definitely star caliber and that’s what got him through this song in the competition. The judges unanimously said that it was not one of his better performances, yet his dedicated fans voted him through to the next round without t a problem. At this point, it looks like the only one who is going to beat Cook, is the singer himself.
