Jason Castro really proves that he belongs amongst the top American Idol performers with his Over the Rainbow mp3. A version of the tune done by the great Hawaiian singer Israel Kamakawiwo Ole, this track has a laid back island feel to it that jives nicely with Jason’s carefree persona. Yet, if anyone thought that Jason wasn’t taking this competition seriously, this rendition was a wake-up call. Although he doesn’t move too far out of his comfort zone, Jason showed that he was willing to experiment by picking up the ukulele and learning to pay it the week he performed. It was also nice to hear him break into that natural falsetto that really showed his range. All of the judges agreed that it was one of Jason’s best performances on the show and they were right.
