El Perro del Mar’s first take on her latest album is a tune called 'Jubilee'. Contrary to what the song's title would suggest, the Jubilee mp3 animates nothing of the word's definition. To this extent, the song is a low key paradox that is virtually over before it begins, with wedding-recessional organ peals anchoring a song slight enough to float away.

Critics have called El Perro del Mar’s latest album sincere and heartfelt, but boring just the same. I can see that point of view, especially when tunes like Jubilee are far from jubilant, but I believe Assbring and her backing Swedish pop band have something to offer the listener who doesn’t necessarily need a jolt to enjoy her or his music.
