The Light On mp3 reflects David Cook's first single since his American Idol winning track The Time Of My Life hit the charts. Light On is much better suited to David’s gruff vocals and rock guitar sound than the tune that he recorded during American Idol. Fans of the show who loved David’s hard rock performances will also fall in love with tune as it reminds me of Nickelback and other mainstream rock groups. I am a little bit disappointed that David didn’t stretch his talents somewhat more. This was clearly a safe choice for David, and I hope that the people who are advising him come to understand that. It’s a tune that is highly forgettable as it could have come from any top rock band. I’d like to see David take more risks in the future, just as he did when he was changing the arrangements to classic tunes during his run on American Idol. Good enough just doesn’t cut it in the music business anymore.
