While the Imma Be mp3 may be the ultimate in self-aggrandizement (Imma be brilliant with my millions/Loan out a billion and get back a trillion), you can’t help but be wowed by the Peas originality and their ability to pump out danceable hits. Along with “Boom Boom Pow,” it was one of the well-chosen teaser songs released off the Peas’ latest offering—an album that is solid and creatively diverse. While it might not have the raw appeal of some of the Peas’ early work, and the Peas’ are definitely in this one just to make some money, it is still better than most rap albums out there. It was also nice to see that the Peas have kept it in the family instead of tapping outside talent like they have done in the past. Maybe it’s a newfound confidence that comes with having willi.am’s candidate elected to office. Listen to a free Imma Be mp3 a few times and see if it doesn’t grow on you.
