2007 Grammy Award Winners

The Grammy Awards is considered the Music Industry’s biggest night. It entails a weeklong series of festivities ranging from celebrations of fashion, education and philanthropy, tributes, and of course music. The annual event was held on February 11, 2007. The 49th Grammy Awards ceremony was aired live from the Los Angeles’ Staple Center on CBS. The Grammys have made themselves a proud tradition for CBS and have created such memorable moments as performances by Prince and Elton John and the Simon and Garfunkel reunion. This year’s awards show boasted the reunion of classic rock band, The Police, and killer performances by such superstars as Beyoncé, Mary J. Blige, John Legend and Ludacris. It also featured Robyn Troup, the winner of a national contest for undiscovered talent called “My Grammy Moment.”

The Grammys are considered to be the most prestigious music awards in the world. The only people allowed to vote on the Grammy are members of the National Academy of the Recording Arts and Sciences (NARAS). In order to become a member, one needs to have worked on at least six albums in terms of production, mixing, engineering, or being the actual recording artist. The event consists of about ninety award-winning categories and musical performances. The categories range from ‘Best Album of the Year’ to ‘Best Classical Contemporary Composition.’

The 49th annual Grammy Awards of 2007 were truly a star-studded event in which more than just the musical talent of all the Grammy nominees was judged. The evening actually began about an hour prior to the show with a red-carpet event where the celebrities were briefly interviewed and photographed as they made their way inside. Everything from who went with who as their date and who didn’t go with who as their date, to what everyone was wearing and how their hair was done was silently critiqued throughout the night. The next day more than just the winners were posted. There was gossip about everything from Ludacris’ shot at Bill O’Reilly and Oprah to Mary J. Blige’s fake eyelashes and the Dixie Chick’s low-key gloating. If you failed to catch the big event, then check out all the big winners and other worthy nominees right here!
