Marshall Mather, better known as Eminem was born in 1972 in the slums of Detroit. Eminem broke the color barrier in hip-hop winning nine Grammy Awards and even starred in his own semi-auto biographical movie about his life as a starving rapper. He has sold more than seventy million albums worldwide becoming one of the highest-selling rappers of all time. Eminem is respected for his lyrics, corky characters, and all around presence. Along with his presence he is known to bring controversy whethe

Run-D.M.C. is a rap group from Hollis, Queens. Run-D.M.C. came to fame in the late 80’s with groundbreaking hip hop songs. They were one of the first groups to make it big in the Hip hop world and became mainstream when they remixed hits like “Walk this Way.” After the tragic death of Jam Master Jay, Reverend Run wanted to show the positive side of hip hop with this family. In Early 2005 MTV film crews began shooting a reality show on the Simons’ family at their house in Upper Saddle River, NJ.

The Good Good mp3 represents Ashanti’s foray into sexy soul territory and is much cheekier than any of the other tunes off Declaration. We’re used to hearing Ashanti as primarily a “good girl” balladeer. It’s good to see she’s taking her powerful voice and a sassy attitude into new territory, even if she does, in the end, sound a little bored by it. The entire Declaration album is a declaration of sorts from Ashanti, who here breaks with frequent collaborator Ja Rule and former mentor/produc

Lil Wayne demonstrates for the first time that he has a pop ear with the Babyface-assisted Comfortable mp3. The collaboration with Babyface, puts Wayne in the company of true class, which couldn’t help but rub off on him. (Somehow, however, I don’t think that it did). While it’s commendable that Wayne take risks, the meandering TC3 is like 16 songs from 16 different albums, barely more composed than one of Wayne's mixtapes. It's the sound of a great artist not trying his best and qu
 You Ain't Got Nuthin

The You Ain’t Got Nuthin mp3 features Lil Wayne rapping with Fabolous and Juelz and while they give the song a little added oomph, they are clearly not the saviors of the track that Lil Wayne intended them to be. This seems like it is just filler on The Carter I—nothing offensive, but nothing great either. Lil Wayne works hard: In the years since Tha Carter II, he's released hundreds of dazzling songs on mixtapes, cultivated an imaginative and idiosyncratic flow, and repeatedly (and often ri

Listening to the Dat B**ch mp3 you clearly get an idea of what Plies thinks of women—not much. This tune is guys' night out without any moral compass. If you’re a guy you’ll probably find some redeeming and honest qualities about it, and women should take it with a grain of salt. Not much time has passed since this south Florida rapper’s debut album, but the second time around Plies does display some growth. His lyrics here are sharper than those on his debut with the trials, tribulations, a

If you’ve seen iPod commercials than you’ve heard Mi Swing Es Tropical and you’ll want to download the Mi Swing Es Tropical mp3. It’s fun and funky and really gives you a flavor for the island music that is played in the various Caribbean neighborhoods in New York City. It’s sure to put you in a party mood (or make you want to buy an iPod). The Endangered Species album this is off is it's a good album and I highly recommend to those who, like me, are extremely tired of the stuff being played
 In the Hood

The In the Hood mp3 is taken from the streets of Opa-Locka, Florida from one of the younger members of the South Florida rap rat pack. In the Hood is on the album Fresh Out, with a single of the same name about Brisco’s just being released from jail. It’s not like Brisco has anything new to say, but the assist from Lil Wayne helps with flow and the beats are okay. It’s still too early to tell, however, if the song will have staying power.
