Yoko Ono Apologizes To Paul McCartney | ||||||||||||

| (EZ-Tracks) - Can a simple “sorry” make years of conflict go away from one of the biggest feuds in music history?
John Lennon’s wife, Yoko Ono took a shot at Sir Paul last month when she was accepting an award on behalf of her late husband. According to the Associated Press, Ono mentioned that Lennon always felt insecure when he compared his own songs to those of his songwriting partner. Ono said that she used to comfort her husband by saying, "You're a good songwriter, it's not June with spoon that you rhyme."
Ono's comments caused a fair amount of controversy, largely because McCartney has never actually rhymed the words "June" with "spoon" in any recorded Beatles composition. While he does match "spoon" and "lagoon" in Abbey Road's "She Came In Through The Bathroom Window," most fans have written Ono's comments off as downright mean.
In an interview in the new issue of Rolling Stone magazine, Ono apologized to her longtime foe. The infamously belligerent artist is quoted as saying, "I certainly did not mean to hurt Paul and if I did I'm very sorry."
