| (EZ-Tracks) - The dream died for four more aspiring pop stars when they got the ax on American Idol last night. The voting public gave thumbs down to Alaina Whitaker, Jason Yeager, Robbie Carrico and Alexandrea Lushington, narrowing the number of contestants down to 16, according to an AP report. Whitaker, a 16-year-old from Tulsa, Oklahoma started sobbing when she heard the result. "Sorry, this is so embarrassing," she told host Ryan Seacrest, who comforted her with a hug. The rest of the Idol contestants gathered around Whitaker to console her as she sang her farewell song—“Hopelessly Devoted to You”—a few of girls shedding tears during the performance. Simon Cowell wasn’t surprised at Yeager’s exit, telling the 28 year-old single father from Texas that he simply didn’t stand out in the crowd. Cowell told Carrico, who sang Foreigner's "Hot Blooded," that his rocker act "just never ever felt real,” while Lushington was faulted for her timidity. | ||||||||||||
