| (EZ-Tracks) - David Hernandez, the ex-stripper, was stripped of his role as a finalist on American Idol last night, as the field of remaining wannabe pop stars was trimmed down to 11, according to an Associated Press report. “Honestly, things happen for a reason," Hernandez said before departing the televised talent contest. "I think we all have a plan. ... This isn't it for me." Hernandez, who sang the Beatles' "I Saw Her Standing There," made news last week after it was revealed to The AP that he worked as a stripper at a Phoenix club with a "mostly male" clientele. Kristy Lee Cook, a 24-year-old from Selma, Oregon, and Syesha Mercado, a 21-year-old from Sarasota, Florida, rounded out the bottom three vote-getters On Tuesday the Idol finalists had the opportunity to show their stuff with renditions of tunes from Paul McCartney and John Lennon. Thanks to a recently struck deal, it was the first time the ex-Beatles’ material was available to Idol. The standout performances according to the judges belonged to Carly Smithson ("Come Together"), Brooke White ("Let It Be"), David Cook ("Eleanor Rigby") and Chikezie ("She's A Woman"). | ||||||||||||
