| (EZ-Tracks) - The woman at the center of the ex- New York Governor Eliot Spitzer storm has been identified as 22 year-old Ashley Alexandra Dupre, according to a story in The New York Times. Dupre, the product of a broken New Jersey home, ran away from her family when she 17 to come to New York and pursue a career as an R&B singer. She can currently be heard on two tracks at Aimie St:“What We Want” and “Move Ya Body.” “I just don’t want to be thought of as a monster,” Dupre said as she told the tiniest tidbits of her story to The Times. She said she was born Ashley Youmans, but took a stage name several years ago when she decided to pursue a career in show business. “This has been a very difficult time. It is complicated,” said Dupre of her current situation. Dupre told The Times that she was worried about how she would pay her rent since the man she was living with “walked out on me” after she discovered he had fathered two children. She said she was considering working at a friend’s restaurant or, once her apartment lease expires, moving back in with her family in New Jersey “to relax.” She did not say when she had started working for the Emperor’s Club prostitution ring, or how often she had liaisons arranged through it. Asked when she met Governor Spitzer and how many times they had seen each other, Ms. Dupre said she had no comment. On her MySpace page Dupre identifies music as her first love, adding that influences have included Patsy Cline, Frank Sinatra and Lauryn Hill. She also lists Madonna, Mary J. Blige and Amy Winehouse as friends. In the profile she says she left “a broken family” at age 17, having been abused and has used drugs and “been broke and homeless.” She has yet to be charged with a crime. | ||||||||||||
