Miley Cyrus Legally Changing Name

(EZ-Tracks) - Miley Cyrus is known to millions of fans as Disney’s tween pop star Hannah Montana, but she’s about to change her name. When Cyrus recently filed papers to legally change her name, many thought she was attempting to make the Montana moniker permanent. But that’s not the case. AP reports that the15-year-old singer, and daughter of country singer Billy Ray Cyrus, is attempting to change her name to Miley Ray Cyrus. It turns out that the singer’s birth name is actually Destiny Hope Cyrus, and that her father nicknamed her “Smiley Miley” due to her upbeat demeanor as a baby. In the court documents, her father writes that the request is meant "to make her commonly used name the same as her legal name." The name-change request was first reported by the celebrity Web site TMZ.com.

I was kind of hoping she’d lost her mind and was legally changing her name to Hannah Montana. Oh well. Destiny Hope is a really hippie dippy name, so I don’t blame her for changing it.
