Pete Doherty Goes to Jail | ||||||||||||

| (EZ-Tracks) - Babyshambles frontman Pete Doherty was sent to a London jail yesterday for fourteen days for violating the terms of his probation, according to a report on Billboard.com. In the report, Adrian Hunter, Doherty's manager, was quoted as saying Doherty was imprisoned for "numerous reasons" including his tardiness at probation hearings. Doherty has been in and out of court in recent months stemming from his well-publicized battle with drug abuse. Today's sentence was handed down at the West London Magistrate's Court, according to Billboard, which also reported that the decision to appeal the judge’s decision was in the hands of Doherty’s lawyers. Parlophone Records, Doherty’s label said the rocker’s show at the Royal Albert Hall scheduled for April 26 would have to be postponed. He will also miss a planned appearance at the "Love Music Hate Racism" event in London the following day. The artist is also due to play at the Glastonbury festival in late June, but "we'll have to look at that nearer the time," Hunter said. | ||||||||||||
