Debbie Gibson Files Restraining Order | ||||||||||||

| (EZ-Tracks) - Singer Debbie Gibson filed a restraining order yesterday against a Spanish man who runs a fan club and who has allegedly been stalking her both on and off stage, according to an AP report. Gibson requested that Bassas Jorge Puigdollers, 44, stay 100 yards away, not attempt to contact her by phone or e-mail, and stop attending her concerts, the report noted. The man, who was reached in Spain by telephone, said he intended no harm. “I wanted to use the fan club to help people who can't go see her to get autographs and photos," he told The Associated Press in Spanish. Gibson claimed Puigdollers has attended all of her "nationwide performances" since 2002, where he often attempts to go backstage to see her and get autographs. He also follows her to her hotel room, according to court papers and, in one incident in the 80s, actually showed up at her home on a Sunday morning. Debbie Gibson became a pop phenomenon in the late '80s, scoring a string of hit singles when she was only 17 and becoming the youngest performer ever to score a Billboard #1 hit song. She continues to tour and perform at charity events and festivals throughout the U.S. | ||||||||||||
