Jordin Sparks Sidelined With Vocal Cord Condition | ||||||||||||

| (EZ-Tracks) - Jordin Sparks has had to drop out of the upcoming Alicia Keys tour to recover from an acute vocal cord hemorrhage, according to an Associated Press report. The 2007 American Idol winner was forced to cancel three shows over the weekend, including the opening night of Keys' tour Saturday in Hampton, Virginia and an Earth Day performance at Washington, D.C.'s National Mall. “Jordin is on a vocal rest, but she's expected to make a full recovery and join Alicia on tour in May," said a spokesperson for Sparks' Jive label. The condition has been attributed to Sparks’ nearly non-stop performing since winning American Idol, with her doctors saying that if she does not rest now, she could risk permanent vocal cord damage. Sparks has proven to be a formidable chart topper since her American Idol coronation. She reached a new peak last week of No. 3 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart with the single "No Air" featuring labelmate Chris Brown. | ||||||||||||
