34-year-old Country Star Graduates from High School

| (EZ-Tracks) - With songs such as “Politically Uncorrect,” “Here for the Party” and “Redneck Woman,” Gretchen Wilson has created an image for herself as the type of wild girl who probably spent much of her time skipping class and getting into trouble.
In fact, the Grammy-winning country star never even graduated from high school—until now. AP reports that at age 34 the well-known country singer has completed the courses for her General Education Development (GED) exam and will participate in a graduation ceremony later this month in her home state of Tennessee. According to AP, Wilson’s reason for completing her high school equivalency degree was that she wanted to set a good example for her 7-year-old daughter. Approximately 20 percent of the residents of Tennessee do not have a high school diploma. Wilson rose to fame in 2004 with the debut of "Redneck Woman." Her affiliation with country stars Big and Rich and their songwriting collective known as the Nashville Muzik Mafia helped her gain wider exposure.
