Carrie Underwood Joins Grand Ole Opry

| (EZ-Tracks) - American Idol Carrie Underwood has shelves full of music awards and platinum records, but on Saturday night she was given yet another special honor: She was inducted into the Grand Ole Opry.
Nashville’s legendary country music show was founded in 1925 and is the longest continually-broadcasting radio show in the country, airing Friday and Saturday evenings. Being invited to join the Opry remains one of the highest honors in the world of country music. Over the years, the Opry has been home to legendary artists such as Hank Williams Sr., but Saturday’s show was full of contemporary stars such as Garth Brooks, who introduced Underwood. Underwood was the winner of season four of American Idol. Her multi-platinum 2005 debut album, Some Hearts, spawned the hit singles “Before He Cheats” and “Jesus Take the Wheel.” Her follow-up album, Carnival Ride, was released in 2007.
