| (EZ-Tracks) - One of the biggest names in the teen-pop music industry is facing 25 years in prison and up to $1 million in fines, AP reports.
53-year-old P Lou Pearlman is accused of conning investors out of more than $300 million dollars over the past several decades, and faces charges of using false statements in a bankruptcy hearing and money laundering, among others. You may not recognize Pearlman’s name, but you’re surely familiar with some of the big name boy bands he helped create, including N’Sync and the Backstreet Boys. The Florida music mogul was also featured in the ABC reality series, Making the Band. The show followed Pearlman’s quest to create the next great boy-band by auditioning hopefuls and offering the winners singing and dancing lessons. The resulting band, O-Town, had a minor hit with the song “All or Nothing” in year, but failed to match the success of Pearlman’s earlier musical creations. Pearlman is set to be sentenced Wednesday in an Orlando court. | ||||||||||||
