| (EZ-Tracks) - The past is coming back to haunt Natalie Cole. The Grammy-winning singer was diagnosed with hepatitis C today, most likely the result of her drug abuse many years ago, according to an Associate Press report. The report noted that Hepatitis C can be contracted through contact with infected blood.
Despite the setback, the daughter of Nat King Cole is remaining stoic. “I've been so fortunate to have learned so much from my past experiences," Cole was quoted as saying through her publicist. "I am embraced by the love and support of my family and friends; I am committed to my belief in myself and in my abiding faith to meet this challenge with a heartfelt optimism and determination. This is how I intend to deal with this current challenge in my life." Cole’s physician in Los Angeles said the singer has had a terrific response to the medication she taking, although there are significant side effects, like fatigue and muscle aches. Cole, 58, is soon due to release the album Still Unforgettable. | ||||||||||||
