| (EZ-Tracks) - Britney Spears’ posse has issued a statement saying that the pop diva is “spending her summer in the recording studio” working on a new album, according to an Associated Press report.
The AP report stated that the one-time superstar is working with an unidentified "team of top-notch producers and songwriters" for the follow-up to last year's "Blackout," which has sold 879,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan. In the last year or so, Spears offstage antics regarding her marriage, divorce, kids and a mental health scare have all overshadowed her career as a recording artist. She didn’t help matters when she appeared at the MTV Video Music Awards dressed like a stripper and lip synching the lyrics to her first single off Blackout, the album that was supposed to be her big comeback. It remains to be seen whether Spears can reignite a dormant music career. | ||||||||||||
