Usher Turns Back to His Mom for Management

| (EZ-Tracks) - In the midst of less than stellar sales of his latest album, once R&B kingpin Usher has dumped his manager and publicist in favor of his Mom, according to a report on Billboard.com
According to the report, in a brief statement issued by his LaFace/Zomba label yesterday, it was announced that the artist "has dissolved his management arrangement with Benny Medina and has re-engaged (his mother) Jonnetta Patton as his manager." The singer also jettisoned W&W Public Relations, the firm that also handles such stars as Ludacris and Alicia Keys, according to the report. Patton managed her son until May 2007. He then hired Medina, who also manages Mariah Carey. The industry veteran was a main figure in the launch of Usher's album, "Here I Stand,” which ultimately went on to be the 8th best-selling album of 2008 so far. But its sales are a far cry from those of Usher’s 2004 album, Confessions, which has sold 9.6 million copies to date.
