| (EZ-Tracks) - The Jacksons were hailed as pop icons at the BMI Urban Awards yesterday, but their leading member, Michael, was nowhere to be found, according to an Associated Press report.
Janet Jackson presented her musical brothers — Michael, Tito, Jackie, Marlon, Jermaine and Randy — with the lifetime achievement BMI Icon award, during a star-studded show that celebrated R&B and hip hop’s superstars. While Tito, Jackie, Marlon and Randy reunited Thursday to accept the award, Jermaine and Michael didn't attend the Los Angeles ceremony. Marion told the AP that he didn’t know where the Gloved-One was and quipped, “"I think he's in Egypt riding a camel or something." The Jackson 5—one of pop’s top acts in the 1970s,--debuted in 1969 on the Diana Ross album “Diana Ross Presents the Jackson 5.” After leaving the Motown label in 1976, the group continued their multi-platinum ways with such hits as “ABC” and “I Want You Back.” | ||||||||||||
